Samira R. Noorali has been writing poetry and studying music since elementary school. In 2006, she graduated from University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in English (concentration in Creative Writing) and Psychology. She then earned a J.D. from Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 2009 after having won top awards for appellate writing and oral advocacy. Immediately after graduating law school, she moved to Houston, TX where she began to rediscover to her artistic roots. Noorali founded a youth, new-music ensemble and served as its director, music composition teacher and lyric-writing mentor for nearly two years. Around the same time, she began compiling her poems into a book called, “A Simple Rebirth,” which contains 38 illustrated poems that present a survival narrative when read in sequence. At this time, Noorali is touring to promote “A Simple Rebirth,” writing a short story collection and working on a novel.
Heera Kulkarni was born and brought up in New Delhi, India and migrated to the U.S.A. in 1982. She is an Indian classical musician, music teacher, yoga teacher, and a poet. Heera has also been working full time as a fifth grade teacher for the past 17 years in the Elk Grove Unified School District. She holds two masters degrees from two continents, namely Asia & North America, in Social Work and Education respectively. Her training also includes degrees in Biological Sciences, Indian classical music & Yoga. Heera is the founder/director of Sangeet Bharati a non-profit organization dedicated to Inspiring, Developing and Nurturing Indian Arts (I.N.D.I.A.) since 2008. She writes poetry in Hindi, Marathi, and English. She has recorded some of her poems/songs in an album called “Shama.” She loves to do charitable work and karma yoga.
